New book on the iron ore mine Büchenberg near Elbingerode, Harz Mts., in preparation Print option in slimbox / lytebox? (info) E-mail

The iron ore deposits and their mining history have changed not only our world, but also the Harz region and the people living and working here. Iron ore was mined for 3000 years in the Harz Mts. – we want to document this history and especially the example of the Büchenberg mine so this important part of our history is not forgotten.

When former miners of the abandoned Büchenberg mine met on May 2, 2010, they looked back to the ending of the active mining phase in the Elbingerode mining district 40 years ago. This view into the past was a moving experience for many miners of this former GDR iron or mine and its end in 1970.

At this event, the idea of making a history and story book on this mine that worked on one of the largest iron ore deposits in Germany was born.

A team of qualified authors found together to bring this idea into reality and to write a representative and well illustrated book on all aspects and facets of this important ore mine. The book shall also become a literary memorial for the miners and their work.

From now on, it is possible to register for the new book to get one of the first exemplars right after print. Also planned is an extended version for the especially interested public on DVD with much more photographs and texts – a good idea for collectors in the mining scene. If you register, this is just a listing and not a purchase act. We will definitely not give any personal data to third parties.

Please use this chance, so that we can inform you immediately after print.

Glück Auf!
